15 Genius Kitchen Cabinet Organization Hacks
1. Create clear zones for each shelf
This is probably the simplest kitchen cabinet organization hack you’ll come across. It’s easy for your kitchen cabinets to get cluttered, especially when you have so much that you need to store. At some point, nothing has its own place, and you have to rummage through a lot of items to find what you’re looking for.
To maintain an organized kitchen cabinet, create clear zones for each cabinet shelf. For example, you can have plates on the bottom shelf, mugs on the middle shelf, and oils and spices on the top shelf. This way, you know that every item and kitchen essential has its own home. Even if your kitchen cabinets do get a little cluttered, you can easily reorganize them weekly, knowing exactly where to store each item.
2. Use cabinet shelf risers

One of the best kitchen cabinet organization tips you need to know about is making the most of vertical space to keep your kitchen essentials neatly stored. This is especially important if you have a limited number of cabinets in your kitchen (i.e., 3 or fewer cabinets).
A quick and easy way to maximize vertical space in your kitchen cabinets is by using shelf risers. Keep your cups, mugs, and plates organized using shelf risers by simply stacking the same dinnerware items on top of each other. This way, your cabinet will stay tidy and every piece of dinnerware will have its own place, making it easier to find and access.
3. Install under-shelf mug hooks

Coffee mugs can take up a lot of space in your cupboard, especially if you have mugs of different shapes and sizes. As someone who loves collecting all kinds of different mugs, I used to find it hard to keep them in one place while still being organized.
If you’re in the same boat, then let me introduce you to under-shelf mug hooks. They attach to the bottom of your kitchen cabinet unit, giving you a place to organize your mugs and freeing up shelf space inside said cabinet.
Some mug hooks act as hangers where you could slide them on the bottom shelf of your cabinet. Your mugs will hang outside and underneath your cabinet unit, making them easy to grab without opening your cabinet door!
4. Install an under-cabinet wine glass rack

If you’re a wine lover, then you understand the importance of having pristine wine glasses. Keeping them inside your cabinet can risk them getting chipped, scratched, or even worse, broken, when they’re stored too close together. Plus, cabinets aren’t the best for keeping them well-ventilated.
So if you’re looking for a way to store your wine glasses without these worries, then you can utilize the bottom of your cabinet to attach a wine glass rack. Not only is it easy for you to organize your wine glasses, but they’re also super renter-friendly as they don’t require any drilling! Just stick the adhesive to the rack and attach it to the bottom of your cabinet!
All you need to do with your wine glasses is slide them into the rack, and they’ll be safely stored!
5. Use wooden plate racks

Wooden plate racks are such a simple yet effective way to organize your kitchen cabinet. You can keep your trays, pot and pan lids, cutting boards, and dishes organized in different slots to keep them together and organized in one place! It’s really that easy!
6. Install under-shelf basket storage

One of my favorite kitchen cabinet organization hacks is under-shelf basket storage because of how clever the design is! These baskets have hooks that slide on the bottom shelf of your cabinet, leaving space underneath your cabinet unit to store whatever you need.
I love using these baskets to store items that I generally use all the time whenever I’m in the kitchen. For example, spices, oil, parchment paper for baking, aluminum foil, towels, and even mugs.
7. Use acrylic bins/baskets

Acrylic bins/baskets are a budget-friendly, effective kitchen cabinet organization hack that takes advantage of the full depths of your cabinet shelves. I especially love using acrylic bins to store medicines, as you can see through them and easily grab whatever medicine you need. Alternatively, you can use them to store your soda cans, tins, fruit, beer, condiments, juice boxes, or literally anything that you generally keep in a kitchen!
8. Install steel slide-out shelves

Do you ever get frustrated with the lack of access to those pots and pans in the back of your kitchen cabinets? If so, having steel slide-out shelves is a kitchen cabinet organization hack you need to know about! With these, you can effortlessly bring those pots and pans from the back of your cabinet towards you and easily access them!
So not only do they make it easy for you to access your kitchen essentials, but they also keep said kitchen essentials organized in your cabinet!
9. Install a slide-out spice rack

Similar to the slide-out shelves previously mentioned, you can also install a slide-out spice rack in your cabinet! This keeps your spices organized and makes it easier for you to access those spices that sit at the back of your cabinet. Best of all, these are multi-tiered, meaning you can store a lot of spice jars on it!
10. Use Lazy Susans

Lazy susans, also known as rotating trays or turntables, are probably the best way to keep your spices, oils, canned food, and sauces organized in your kitchen cabinet. You just put your items on top and rotate the bottom to access what you need.
If you have a multi-tiered Lazy Susan, then even better! This will maximize the vertical space in your kitchen cabinet, meaning you can store twice as many spices, oils, canned foods, and sauces!
11. Install a Joseph Joseph spice rack
Joseph Joseph spice racks are another great hack for storing your spices at the bottom of your kitchen cabinet. They hold multiple spice jars and work as a pull-out compartment with a drawer. If you have a small kitchen, then this is perfect to get for your kitchen cabinet as it utilizes the unused space beneath your cabinet unit. It keeps your spices tucked away while also being easily accessible!
Joseph Joseph spice racks do have a limited amount of space to fit your spice jars, so it’s best to store the spices that you use the most in these, as they can be easily accessible for you when cooking.
Best of all, Joseph Joseph spice racks don’t require any drilling. They easily mount onto your cabinet shelf with sticky adhesive!
12. Use sticky hooks behind your cabinet doors

Utilizing space on your cabinet doors is one of the cheapest yet effective kitchen cabinet organization hacks you should know about. All that cabinet door space can hold plenty of items just by using sticky hooks, such as the Command clear hooks.
You can stick a ton of these hooks behind your cabinet door to hang items such as measuring spoons, measuring cups (or any other relatively small kitchen utensils), and hand cloths!
13. Install over-cabinet door baskets
Another way to utilize cabinet door space is by installing over the cabinet door baskets. They easily hook onto the top of your cabinet door and allow you to store a lot of your kitchen essentials, such as cutting boards, baking trays, and muffin pans. You could even use them to store your Tupperware lids, cling wrap, parchment paper, or aluminum foil.
14. Install pan lid holders on cabinet door

There’s another genius way to utilize your cabinet door space, and it’s for organizing your pot and pan lids. When storing your pots and pans, it can be tricky to store the lids too, because the handle always takes up space. To solve this issue, install pan lid holders behind your cabinet door. They’re so easy to install (without any drilling) and make accessing your pan lids so easy!
15. Use glass storage containers

Glass storage containers are a great way to give the contents of your kitchen cabinet a cohesive look while staying organized and neat. You can use box-shaped containers to store pantry essentials such as cereal and rice, as well as cylinder-shaped containers to store pasta. Label these containers, too, if you know it’ll help keep your cabinet more organized!
